While not all women experience extreme nausea during pregnancy it does occur and it can make the experience very negative. Luckily, there are not only at home treatment options but also natural treatment options you can try out. It seems that for quite a few of expecting mothers, nausea goes hand in hand with pregnancy and it doesn’t always come along with vomiting either.
Why Extreme Nausea during Pregnancy Occurs
Hormones are pretty much the reason for everything you experience as a symptom of pregnancy like mood swings, acne, random spats of crying and even the popular nesting. Nesting occurs in most expecting women and it is basically when they continuously clean and organize in preparation of their new addition. When a woman is carrying a child there are a lot of hormones going on inside of her and those hormones can often irritate the stomach. Some women just have nausea while some start their day throwing up in the bathroom, everyday. While about half of pregnant women only have this nausea occur during the first few months there have been several expecting moms who unfortunately have nausea and sickness throughout their entire pregnancy. Extreme nausea during pregnancy doesn’t happen to everyone but about 30 to 50 percent of expecting women do have to deal with it.
Medicines for Extreme Nausea during Pregnancy
When your nausea or vomiting gets to be so bad that it interferes with your daily life then you may need to talk to your doctor about it. There are a few medications out there like Promethazine, Metoclopramide and Doxylamine that are safe to be taken while pregnant and can help ease that sickness to make it more manageable or even get rid of it completely. Vitamin B6 is also a great source to take for nausea not only during pregnancy but anytime. B6 is one of the best vitamins out there for your body because it helps level you out even when you are in a constant state of change like pregnancy.
If medical treatment isn’t your thing and you would prefer something more natural then you could always try hypnosis, acupuncture, acupressure or even the use or natural items like ginger. Sipping on a ginger ale is one of the best ways to help ease an irritated tummy. When it comes to extreme nausea during pregnancy though, you may find it harder to find a natural remedy that will actually work.
Pregnancy is an amazing process and the birth of a new child is absolutely beautiful but unfortunately sometimes the road to get there can be bumpy. Keeping a positive attitude, healthy daily diet and staying hydrated can all help keep your body as “normal” as possible while you are literally growing a human being inside of you. Even though we don’t like to be nauseas and get sick everyday, when our children come out it just seems that everything was well worth it in the end.
