Similar to Karva Chauth, Ahoi Ashtami is also meant to perform strict fast for wellness of children, On this day mothers keep the Ahoi Ashtami (goddess) fast and don’t eat and drink until stars appears in the sky.
Before this, during evening time (Approx 4:00 – 6:00 PM) mothers worship the Goddess Ahoi by performing traditional rituals and wish the wellness of their son(s). Later when stars appear in the sky they perform pooja, and open their fast by drinking water and later in dinner whole family eat various vegetarian dishes.
 
Traditionally according to Hindusim, Ahoi Ashtami falls on Ashtami (8th day) during Krishna Pakshaa (dark fortnight) of Kartik month.
